Opening Exhibition: S, M, L & other sizes is a showcase by Mexican-Canadian Designer Beatriz Juarez. For the last 15 years, she has been experimenting with conceptual approaches in photography, abstract illustration, collage and other printing and sewing techniques. Her multidisciplinary approach is intended to understand the implications of media regarding the interpretation of images. Graduated from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico City) from Visual Communication Design, Beatriz started working in fashion magazines as Art Director before graduating. During her 33 year career, she has explored the semiological relationships that exist between media and the consumer, audiences as anomalies, the commodification of the body and the female gaze. She also teaches Fashion Communication at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) in downtown Toronto.
